The Design Brief

The design brief was to create an outside space where the owners could relax and entertain family and friends, grow some of their own fruit and vegetables as well as providing a safe space for their cat to explore and play.

The preferred garden style was informal with lots of seasonal interest, so that the space could be enjoyed all year round.

The Solution

I felt it was important to give each area of the garden a purpose. A space to cook outdoors, somewhere to sit and relax with family and friends and a secluded space surrounded by planting listening to the gentle ripple of the water fountain. 

Evergreen planting was key to ensure that the garden has structure throughout the seasons along with with planting with different flowering periods, to create an everchanging space to be enjoyed.
